An optative sentence is a kind of sentence that expresses a wish, a desire, a hope, a blessing, a curse or any other expression of emotion or intention. It is usually formed with the help of a verb in the subjunctive mood, or by using a modal auxiliary verb such as ‘may’ or ‘might’.
